The Bose SoundDock Series 10 is a docking station and speaker system for your iPod iPhone or other Mp3 devices. It’s basically one big speaker with the docking station for the iPod built into it. The dock is also compatible with the iPhone. It also has a basic 3.5 mm auxiliary input, but that’s about it in regards to connectivity. The auxiliary jack is great if you want to connect other devices to the dock other than your iPod, for example a CD-Player or other mp3-Players.

Personally, I use the auxiliary jack to connect my Blu-Ray player to the Sound Dock, which is great to replace the built-in speakers of my TV. In spite of the fact that my TV is a dolby stereo set, the SoundDock gives better stereo separation and deeper sound. When the iPod or the iPhone are connected through the docking station, the mp3 files sound very rich as the dock outputs the sound so well.

The other benefit of course is all your gadgets are being charged, even while you’re playing songs. 

 The speakers are protected by a metal grill on the front. The slim design makes this speaker portable, as it’s surprisingly light. I take it with me when I’m teaching Yoga classes for example, and it’s so easy to just Pop it into my bag. The sound really fills the room beautifully.

The modern design looks good too, so you can use it in any room in the house. This one is the Bose SoundDock Series 10
which is one of Bose’s top of the range docking stations and so it is a bit more expensive than the others, but just check out how good it looks!

Lets take a brief look at some of the Bose SoundDock Series 10 highlights

• Docked iPod/iPhone charges, even while playing, as long as the system is plugged in.

Overall sound quality is quite impressive for such small speakers. Even at lower bitrates, the sound is broad and expansive. The bass notes sound great too. This is achieved by Bose’s sound technology called “Waveguide”. This technology allows for rich and lifelike sound in smaller units like the Bose Sound Dock. Normally you would need a much bigger system to get a high quality sound like that.  

 In my opinion it’s clearly the best iPod docking station out there.

The Sound Dock comes with a small remote which is quite nice. It has a uniquely “simplistic” design, which makes it very easy to use, typical for Bose. People who prefer remotes with a lot of different functions might be disappointed, but ease of use is without doubt the priority in this case. The functions are limited  to on/off, volume, forward, backward, play/pause. Whilst it’s not possible to navigate through the iPod menu using the remote, as you can with some of the exceptionally expensive docking stations, but you can use the remote for playlist navigation, which is great.

The Bose Sound Dock Series 10 is typical Bose.

Top quality, sleek design and more importantly powerful responsive sound even in the base range. I’m recommending it. It’s awesome!

As you probably realise now, it tends to be a tough choice when you’re looking for the best surround sound speakers you can buy, but the Bose Acoustimass 5 – Speaker System, ideal for stereo or home theater use – Black is probably one of the best purchases you could make.

The huge range of features and exceptionally high level of quality typical of Bose, makes it no surprise they’ve become a leading brand when it comes to making speakers.

Especially when it comes to making super small ones!

In this review, we’ll take a look at some of the features of the Acoustimass 5, and then I’ll tell you why, it’s a speaker system I’d happily recommend

Bose lifestyle v10 Home Theater cheapest price online is currently available  at Amazon at an amazing $675 for a second hand  unit  and as far as I’m aware, the usual Amazon garantee is there so you can be sure that you’re going to be satisfied with your purchase or you’ll get your money back.

Why is that important?

Well, to put it simply, you can realistically save if you buy a second hand Bose v10, over $900 off the retailers usaual price which is just awesome given you get to change your mind if you’re not happy with the purchase.

The $1,599 that they’d usually charge is also reduced for a brand spanking new one too and they’ve done the Amazon thing, by setting it at… well, I suppose you’ll just have to go over to Amazon to see..

Bose Lifestyle V10 Home Theater

Bose Lifestyle V10 is not the best Bose Home Theater System by Bose.

It’s just the one that I bought.

A lot of readers just presume that because I write about the V10 more than any of the others it’s because it’s the best or the most expensive or whatever.

That just isn’t true.

It’s the one I own and the only one that I’m truly qualified to write about here on the blog.

Sure there are other systems in the Bose camp, I take your point.

If you read the blog you’ll see in an earlier post I mention several of them, like the  Bose 38 Lifestyle for example, which is way more expensive and out of my league at the moment.

(One day it’ll be mine) and even the Bose SoundDock Series II Digital Music System for iPod (Silver) which you see in the picture below.

Don’t presume if I have not mentioned a particual system from the Bose catalogue that I don’t like it or that it’s not as good as the others. The Ipod Dock above is very expensive and houses some of the best technology in audio. You just plug in your Ipod and suddenly it’s loud enough to run your own disco (givin’ away my age with the word Disco, right?) but it gets a mention because I’ve heard it and want it myself.

I hope that clears this up for you anyway.

The Bose Lifestyle V10 is not the best Bose system out there.

It’s just the best system in it’s price range as far as I’m concerned. If I’d had more money at the time of purchase, I’d have spent more money and got myself the best Bose Home theater I could afford at the time. For me that was a V10 of course. pictured below.

It’ll set you back a pretty penny but it does everything and I mean everything you could eevr need or want and it does it with pure unadulterated excellence.

If had to do it again I’d be going for this piece of kit check it out… Beautiful or what? As far as I’m concerned… This is the Best Bose Home Theater

Shopping over at Amazon.com for Other Bose Lifestyle v10 home theater system products, there’s always a list of the things other people buy if you check on down the page.

This is partcularly useful for a number of reasons.

Firstly it lets you know about items that perhaps you hadn’t though about.

Take the Bose UFS-20 Universal Floor Stands (pair) – Black As an example…

It’s one thing having the system but you’re also going to want to place your speakers in the optimum position.

Now it’s fair to say that the lifestyle range of systems have an option in the audio settings which can read the size and shape of the room you’re in and set the sound specially for that and that it can do this automatically for you.

The thing is that you’ll always get the very best results even with that super clever bose technology, if the speakers are placed at a good height and if they’re spaced around the room and pointing directly at “your favourite chair” (not someone elses…) etc…

It’s common that extra speaker stands are going to be a good option.

There are wall mounted brackets such as the Bose UB-20B Wall/Ceiling Bracket (each) – BLACK which gives you the versatility and allows you to hide the speakers wherever you like. The wall mounted brackets are my choice even though they are cheaper than the floor stands though, because I like having the floor space clear.

Here’s why…

I discovered about three months after getting my unit that floor stands for speakers don’t “blend” well with floor stands in Hatha based Yoga….

I want my expensive technology out of Kick range (parents take note..)

The Best Ipod Docking System

Is the Bose SoundDock Series II Digital Music System for iPod (Silver) the best Ipod docking system on the market?

No.

The one at the bottom of the page is…

but I can’t afford that one yet….

If you want to buy a dock for your Ipod or Iphone that’s better than the Sound Dock series 2 you’ll be searching for some time.

Sure it’s one of the most expensive you can buy, but it’s in a completely different league than all of the others.

I can’t think of one actually that even comes close to the sound dock and I’ve been around the block so to speak…

The reason is that with bose they’ve always had a focus on technology that is small.

                                And beautiful…

                                 And Awesome…

I have a V10 myself.

Next week I’m swapping my ancient PDA phone (I’m too embarrassed to tell you which one) and getting a brand spanking new Iphone 4. (with an awesome data package from the 3 network)

The next step for therefore is to buy a sound dock, and I’ll tell you why.

It’s not that the v10 isn’t portable, it is small enough to fit under your arm, but it isn’t made for travelling.

It’s supposed to stay where it is looking georgeous, whereas the Sound Dock designed to go wherever you go and deliver that Bose sound, which in my opinion is just awesome.

This is the one I’ll be buying for myself Bose SoundDock Series II Digital Music System for iPod (Silver)but if you reall want to slurge on the best Docking station for Iphone or Ipod check the one below out with top class features to die for..

It’s way out of my league at the moment in terms of it’s price but just take a look at this…

Bose Lifestyle V10 home theater system (DVD Home Theater Systems)

One of the things that I really love about my own Bose v10 is the fact that it’s so compact.

It can sit unnoticed but when you crank it up it can really kick butt!

I’m a John Coltrane fan and love Joni Mitchell too and when you’re listening to something like Hejira for example you really want to hear every single nuance. It really allows you to hear every detail of Jacko Pastorius’ bass guitar whilst allowing the top end of Joni’s voice to come through.

My old system was an Akia and I thought it was good, but when I got my V10 I was hearing stuff in the music that I hadn’t even realised was there.

The  Bose v10 is expensive I’ll give you that, but as far as I’m concerned well worth the cash just to hear those beautiful subtle sounds.

Bose lifestyle 18 Remote

Here’s the Bose lifestyle 18 remote is perfect for anyone who’s had the misfortune of jumping on thier old remote.

It’s identical to the one you got in the first place and you may be able to get a new one for even less than you’d pay for a second hand unit!

Just in case you need to know some details, here they are…

This is for bose lifestyle 18, 28 and 35 (series 2, 3 and 4) all these series 2,3 and 4 DVD players have white back input panel-Your DVD player must say AV18. it is not compatible with series 1- AV28 (with black back input panel)

Over at Amazon this isn’t the only remote you can get, but if you want to buy a bose lifestyle 18 remote specifically you’re better with the real thing as it syncronizes with your unit immediately with no problems. Put the batteries in and off you go.

I have no trouble although I do fancy an upgrade at some point, I can’t see any reason to do it just yet. If you own a V18 then this is what you’re looking for. My own sytem’s remote is fine though… even though I have sat on it repeatedly. Maybe you’d be better losing a few pounds before you buy a new remote for yours… Mail this post

The comments are good too as many Bose headphone users will tell you. Once you get used to the noise cancelling thing…

It’s weird when you first try it out because most headphones you can get you hear people talking babies crying and airplanes engines.

Once on a trip from Australia I had a mini panic attack and freak out session when I suddenly realised that I couldn’t hear the engines. Lol…

My Bose headphone tip is when flying remeber that the reason you can’t hear the engines is because you decided to buy Bose noise cancelling headphones. Which leads me to my second Bose headphone tip.

Remember to always relax….

These are my favourite all time headphones I got for usin’ with my Bose V10 and my new PDA although I need to use an adapter for them with the PDA, the sound quality is totally out of this world. I love the fact that they cancel out the noise as it makes listening on a bus or train an altogether more pleasurable experience. I’d be especially careful using them out walking as they really do cancel outside noise so you could potentially not notice that truck heading your way. Other than that though no other warnings for this awesome set of phones!

I’m a language learner and long haul flights are like my “special time” and withBose headphones on there’s no interuptions not even those engines… Blissful. Mail this post
